Genre: Fighting

Review by: Gavin

You can take the health bars, time limits, fire balls and rings and throw them all out the window when it comes
to Bushido Blade. That's because in this game it is an all out sword fight to the death.

In BB you have a selection of six characters and eight swords. Each character has different abilities which
include speed, power, defense, and offense. Some swords work better with some characters. For example a
heavy sword would not work with a small and fast character. To include with weapons each character has his/her
own unique sub-weapon. The great part about BB is that in one hit with the sword to the head and the match is
over. Defense is really used a lot in this game whereas it is not in most other fighters.

There are three different stances to attack from : low, middle, and high. Each stance has its own moves that you
can do. As for places to fight in, don't worry about that. You can run all over the place in this game, even climb
into higher areas. You can also cut down trees that stand in your way.

There are lots of modes to choose from also. Story mode, where you take on the members of the Kage clan to
beat the game. Vs. mode, where you and a friend go head to head. Slash mode, where you take on 100, that's
right, I said 100, computer opponents in a row. POV mode, this is a very good first person perspective mode.
Training mode, where you choose an opponent to fight and practice you skills.

As for graphics, they could be better. Sometimes objects get all cluttered when you run around. But the
FMV's are pretty good.

There really isn't much I can say about the sound. Its everything I wanted out of it. Sound effects are good, and
the music fits perfectly.

There are only a few things that I didn't like about the game. One of them is that it is a little to easy to beat in
story mode. Slash mode is the only hard part of the game, but its a little to hard! Also I don't like that there are
only six characters. Two more would of made me happy. Otherwise this is a worthy title to have in your hands if
you are a fighting fan. Keep in mind that BB2 is out in Japan and should arrive in the USA sometime this year in
'98.
