Microsoft Most powerful console available. The Xbox is doing well on its homecourt, but on the road sales aren't dominating.

Bigg Russ' OFFICIAL Halo 2 Launch Experience

Long story short, the EB near me didn't have nearly as many people on line as I thought it might. Heck, I showed up at 10:45 but they weren't going to line up until 11. All the young'ns were crowed at the door. As soon as the clerk said line up, I simply walked near the door. All the geeks who had been there since SEVEN PM (yes, I got confirmation) walked around me and got in line.

Picked up the Limited Edition... and I'm glad I did. I wouldn't have been happy with myself had I not. I even convinced someone on line to pay up the extra $5 for it. I also bought a t-shirt. Impulse buy.

Anyway... played on line for about three hours. MORE than I expected. Had a full house, 16 players, for at least three runs. If only XBConnect and GameSpy had been this smooth...

It's simply wonderful. The stat tracking, the passing of the host duties, the proximity voice chat... everything is just so damned perfect...

Havent popped mine in yet.

Went down to bestbuy, They had 900 limited, 1500 normal, got the limited edition, 5 posters (free) and the strategy guide (free).

Supposedly only a small small number of the limited editions have a slot for the 2nd disc, the others have the Game disc stacked on top of it (on the little spindle thing) and a few people have gotten scratched up discs that wouldnt work

The fact that the discs in my Limited Edition are stacked just like you say made me raise an eyebrow when I popped it open. It seems safe enough... but I just thought, "Damn, they went with this design for the hottest Xbox game ever?!" I ripped mine out so fast, I didn't even bother to check for scratches.

Thumbs down yeah, I dont know what they were thinking..

There's just NO excuse for something like that. There's nothing "Special" about that edition if the case isn't even made to facilitate the media.

Just got back from Target, got the LE w/ a free statergy guide. Walked in at 11:45AM today, and walked out. Nothing too exciting. Just hope it's a good game.

Edit: Oh, yeah. I am Broadband-connectionless since I left Cali.

There were about 300 people in line at my Babbages, and 50 ft away, about 400 more in the software etc line. Parents brought their kids, a couple women drove 50+ miles to get them for their husbands.....it was crazy. I got stuck behind a nerdy assed version of beavis and butthead. made me ashamed to be in line in the first place.

The local news showed up at 10:45 and interviewed lots of people.

And then there is this shit!

Called MS Up about it seeing if theres any way around it. So far the only way is to turn off 480p on the dashboard.

They also said theres 'currently no plans to release a patch for this, but if you play it in 480i it should work just fine'.

sure do

I'm just going to leave it on. It doesnt cut THAT much of the screen off for me, and I'd rather play it in a higher resolution and lose an inch or two of the screen, hoping they fix it somehow.

Also disappointed the demos arent on there

I'm waiting for my copy to come in the mail. I'm going to be fuckin' pissed if my disk is scratched to hell, since I got the collectors edition and they are stacked in there. Jesus Microsoft how dumb can you be?!

The Target near me got over 200 copies and I guess there were 30 or so people ready to get their reserved copies right in the morning. I'm not sure how the Walmart did, but back home (2 hours away), my Dad went to their Walmart to buy it and they had no copies left, so he went to Shopko and they still had regular and Collector Edition versions. So he got one there.

Too late now, but Target was giving away the strategy guides free ($17 value), and bestbuy had a few thousand posters and 2400 copies of the game last night (900 LE, 1500 normal)

I definitely would've taken (but not read, as usual) the strategy guide. I for damn sure wasn't going to buy it last night as the EB employee tried sooooo hard to get me to.

My MIL told me she got a copy from K-Mart on her lunch break with no problem at all, but it wasn't the Limited Edition. She would have gotten it from software etc, (where she pre-ordered it), but they didn't have any Limited Editions in. Apparently None of them even knew what the Limited Edition was. So I went to TRU and grabbed one of the MANY, MANY LE copies this afternoon. No uber-nerds, no lines, no foolishness.

Some of you "standing in line before midnight" motherfuckers are just...

Oh yeah, TRU was selling wireless XBOX mini-controllers for 10 bucks with the purchase of HALO2. I may have considered one if they were mini. You also get a $10 TRU card when you spend $75 or more. I wonder if I can return this shit, then use the card to purchase another copy?

I also grabbed "Secrect Weapons over Normandy" (PS2) since it was one of the $9 titles.

man i was ashamed and embarssed for myself, standing in line with the biggest bunch of dweebs and nerds ive ever sene in my life

it was unquestionably one of the most pathetic things ive ever done....but id still say taht it was worth it

The EB near me was giving people numbers starting that morning, so i ran over there and got #39

So when they started selling the game at midnight i was in and out in all of 30 mintues

Won me a pathetic MGS3 t-shirt too.....guess i shouldnt complain, but its a sorry ass looking thing
