If I had an HDD, I would buy this. I'm fucking SICK of "Disc Read Error" and I don't want to "canned air" my f'ing PS2 every 2 months to fix the problem.

Does it work on unmodded consoles?

The thing seems cool, Especially this part:

Quote:
# HDLoader is compatible with both standard IDE hard disk drives and the official Playstation 2™ hard disk drive.
for people not wanting to spend $100 on FFXI And a 40 gig HD

No way to swap discs automatcally is an issue of mine. I have a 3 game changer for my GBA SP, and had a jukebox loader for my Genesis back in the day. I love shit like this, so I may have to buy this damn thing.

I'm sure you have to insert the original game disc in the PS2 to copy it. Just spend the 5 bucks to rent a game. Sometimes you have to spend money to make money, or in this case, save some money.

Not without playing off the actual disc. You need it to get past the DNAS.

Can I install backups/imports using HDLoader?

We cannot comment on this. Any emails asking this question will be ignored.
I wonder if this thing will boot imports (And store them on the HDD), if so, I think that would be an awesome feature.. Theres a ton of japan-only games I've been meaning to pick up that will most likely never make their way to the US.

GG, Where did you order it from? And let me know how it goes with them

I didnt spend that. I took the 5 dollar air mail. I dont believe that shipping time hype most of the time. I always get it fast, and spend less. I can wait though, my ps2 is collecting dust as of late.

^ Anyone know if that ones compatable with the thing?

I wouldnt mind picking one up myself at that price.. But if its not, I dont know Office Depots return policy on the stuff.
Is it just a sale price (For this week), or their everyday price? And would it be the same in-store?

Here is a quote from the FAQ at the main site.

Quote:
What hard disk drive would you recommend for use with HDLoader?

If you want to take the safe path, get an official Sony internal hard disk drive. These are guaranteed to work - but the capacity of the Sony drives is fixed to 40gb. If you want a larger drive capable of storing more games then we recommend that you purchase a 80 or 120 gigabyte Maxtor hard disk drive.
I still have that beta HDD that sony sent me, so i wonder if that would work as a backup?

Ah cool thanks..

Gonna try and pick up one tomorrow, and order the HDLoader from divineo..

Do you know if FedEX from US to Canada would accept cash-on-delivery (I noticed the site offered it, but didnt see an option for it)?

Got a complete 'n00b' question..

Picked up the Maxtor tonight

Noticed it says "Ultra Performance ATA/133", "Contents: Yktra ATA Interface Cable" - Is that the right type of drive?
Not familiar with them at all, and not sure if it needs an IDE Drive, If they're all IDE Drives, or if I'm looking at the completely wrong thing..

The System Requirements say:

"Specifically marked kits with ATA/133 card require available PCI Slot".
