Question Retro RPG's, did anyone else play them out?

And I'm talking about "OLD" sh*t like:
  • E.T.
  • Raider's of the Lost Arc
  • Adventure
  • Zork

I've actually ended all of those except Zork, (well, I don't thinlk that Adventure had a real end) Noone else that I know then played those games through.

Raider's on the 2600 was damn confusing then (still sort of is really), I was hooked as a child.

How about Miracle Warriors on the SMS (if you don't know what SMS stands for, then just leave...okay?)

I know that's not even in the same league as the other relics, but I don't know anyone else that played though that either. It was no "Phantasy Star", but fun all the same.

~Peace!~

E.T. just confused the shit out of me and made my head hurt, so I quit playing it. I still have flashbacks to the day's wasted trying to figure that turd knocker out. Wondering around the screen's looking for pieces of the phone, if I remember right. Ugh, bad memories.

And I never got to play Miracle Warriors.

The first RPG that I truly loved wasn't even an RPG by today's standards. That would be the original Zelda.

The one's I remember best are Dragon Warrior, and Final Fantasy 1, on the NES. And Phantasy Star 1 on the master system. God that game was kinda tough for me, of course it was so much different than anything else that was out at the time.

Aaaahh! Miracle Warriors frustrated the shit out of me!! That was a retro RPG for that time. Y's wansss an incredible RPG and would probably rank as my all time favorite if it weren't for Phantasy Star.
Phantasy Star IMO is the all time most influential turn based RPG. I think everyone that proclaims to be an RPG fan needs to play this game.

If you played through Phantasy Star then you didn't miss much with Miracle Warriors, which was older and not nearly as advanced (or as beautiful) as Phantasy Star (which still the coolest PRG I've ever played.)

E.T. wasn't that great...but it passed the time.

I didn't like the first Fanal Fantasy at all. I still own the cart for NES. The battle system was tooooooo f*cking SLOW. It completely ruined the game for me.

Porno, if you liked Y's (pronounced "E's", not "Wise" for those who didn't know) on the Master System, you REALLY need to play it on the TurboDuo man.

You didn't specifiy which system you played it on, but I can tell you that Y's on the Master system was only half of the game (Book I).

The Turbo Duo version was Books I - II, with voiced, Anime style cinema screens and lots more game play. That game's probably still my second favorite RPG of all time.

I played it on the SMS. Is the Turbo Duo the same console as the TG-16?

Question

Didn't the Turbo Duo Version have high quality digital sound on it? I remember reading about that.

The TurboDuo was the same as the Turbo GrafX 16 + the CD add on, only it's one stand alone unit and it's faster then the older costodian add-on CD Rom drive.

The cinea-screens (FMV) didn't take all day to load on the Duo player. I'm sure about the sound quality to be honest with you. I could check the box to see.

You might still be able to get one on eBay.

Kelly bid one one for me as a Valentines day gift for me (because it was NEW in Box never used). She proxy bid $300.00, but she lost at the last minute.

But she then found an on-line store that sold NEW TurboDuo system...For much less! She snagged one for me and never told me the site because she doesn't like the fact that she can never keep a secret from me or suprize me with anything (gifts).

I promised that I wouldn't look though the history/cache to see where she ordered it + the games from (tthey deal in new games as well). And now she's sense sold the Gateway she used to have (rats).

I'll ask her if they still carry any, because she haad gotten the last one in February.

~Peace!~

Good lookin out. I'm eventually gonna build up my collection of retro consoles. My next buy is the SMS, i've had more fun on that system than any to date.

Y's Book I & II is a great RPG that many missed out on due to being released T-16/Duo.

There was a Famicom classics import for the Saturn - single-disc anthology containing three classic Falcom titles that originated on the PC-Engine. The games remain identical, with the addition of full-screen video. Dragon Slayer, Xanadu and Y's are included.

I also thought I have heard rumors of a true RPG sequel and not a side scrolling adventure ala Y's III <- yuck) coming for the Dreamcast but I think it got axed.

DoOd, that "Wanderer from Y's/Y's III)" sh*t is was quit possibly THE worst cartrige game that I've ever had the misfortune of purchasing (second hand of course).

Complete and total GARBAGE.

If I find out that anyone here's purchased that game since this warning was posted I WILL hunt you down and watch/film you being anally raped by Nintendo fanboys.

Y's was actually fantastic on the Master System, it lacked the cinemas and the second chapter of the game, but it's still one the best releases on that console.

Final Fantasy I was too basic for me. With the WonderSwan Color re-release, the game probably will move faster. Final Fantasy II was not all that different from Final Fantasy I and was mediocre at best. Final Fantasy III was the best. The NES MIDI tunes were great and the series really took off both in gameplay and in sales (its the first Final Fantasy to sell a million) Any person play the NES Dragon Warrior games?

Yup played/owned DW 1-4.

Also for me the first FF is what finally sold me on the idea of an RPG. Great game for its time.

Is it a coincidence that Aeon Storm shows up and now Moon Tears' pics no longer show up?

Anyways, my first RPG that I loved was Sword of Vermillion on Genesis.

Hahaha I have very fond memories of waking up half an hour early so I could get some time in on DW before school and then looking forward to come home from school to play for a few hours.

The original Zelda however was the first RPG that I beat, admittedly with help from Nintedo Power (anyone remember those maps of the world they had).

And then there was zork, the first game I ever played on a PC (those were the days were you could save entire games, even entire word processing programs on a single floppy). The game really intrigued me at first, then I got frustrated with all the puzzles and gave up. I ended up going back to play zork a few years ago with a walkthrough just so I could see how the game ends. You can even play zork online.
