Microsoft Most powerful console available. The Xbox is doing well on its homecourt, but on the road sales aren't dominating.

Question Over/Under on Xbone failure rate?

Who wants to get some action going? (no homo)

considering it's mostly off the shelf parts, and Microsoft blew a billion dollars on their last mistake.

Going to say defective Xbox One's won't be any worse than your usual electronic device.

yes, it's pretty much a average gaming PC today, failure rate should be extremely low barring some idiotic mistake.

I think it'll be much more reliable. Half the case is vented, and from the photo they showed of the inside, they have a large fan right on the heatsink for the processor.

What do you mean failure rate? Like 1-out-of-100 Xbox Ones doing an rrod or similar brick condition? Or are you asking if any of us expect our Xbox One to die? For the latter, I do not expect my Xbox One to die; if it does it will be within the warranty period I hope.

Inevitably there will be reported issues – if anything it’ll be isolated and nowhere near the levels of rrod and other error conditions that plagued many (mine included) 1st gen 360s.

I'm pretty sure it was a lot more than 1st gen 360s. I lucked out, but I remember hearing about new design after new design and still plenty of rrod for other users.

Yeah, you are right, it was beyond 1st gen 360 models. Mine was a 1st gen model - it E86'ed on me. Regardless, whatever the overall 360 failure rate was, I cant' see XB1 doing anything remotely similar.

edit - you know I seem to recall that I did have a rrod issue that Best Buy covered under extended warrenty - I just swapped my hd. The E86 happened out of warrenty - I just bought the black model I have now.

This. In fact, it's a slightly weaker PS4. Same CPU, same GPU but with fewer cores, and slower RAM. I suspect that the failure rate should be about the same as the PS4, give or take.

On the xbox360 front, it was kind of ahead of it's time I think.

I know PC's were more powerful, but they were i giganic boxes, with massive fans, cooling the large chip CPU's.

CPU size has gone way way down, so they run a shit ton cooler now.

My brand new Dell Super pc runs so damn quite I laugh at what I had 4 years ago in terms of a top of the line super gaming PC.

THe new xbox360's are running on newly designed much smaller chipsets.

So yes, the xboxone based simply off current tech should have no issues at all.
