Microsoft Most powerful console available. The Xbox is doing well on its homecourt, but on the road sales aren't dominating.

Dead Space 3 Launch Trailer

Phil Collins goes well with horror, right? Well, least his song. Pretty sure it's a cover.

It was a pretty lame trailer, but did you play / enjoy the previous installments?

The demo made me feel like I was playing that other space game about being out in space fighting creatures. I can't remember the name of it. There was two of them...

Lost planet?

I'm one of the biggest, if not the biggest Dead Space fan here. And from what I could tell from the demo... Ammo for different weapons has been replaced with universal ammo, and there's tons of ammo everywhere, so the ammo management is gone.

The dark and creepy/tense atmosphere is gone. Now you're on a snowy planet, with two suns... so it's crazy bright, and you're outside in this much larger environment.

The amount of enemies has been amped up, but the combat really hasn't been tweaked the handle the more action oriented encounters. To balance this, at least in the demo, you can just take much more damage.

There's also enemies who can shoot at you. So cover was added, and you know you're about to encounter enemies that can shoot because the areas tend to have lots of boxes for cover.

Call of Dead Space should be the new title.

I liked Dead Space 2 because of the atmosphere. It was so great I played through it several times in a row. It sounds like DS3 will be more of an action game so I will pass for now. I have plenty of games in my backlog and I've been wanting to play the original Dead Space since I skipped straight to DS2.

If anybody is interested in DS3, Amazon is offering a $20 credit and some bonus content for pre-orders.

The atmosphere is actually much better in the first game, IMO. It's way more claustrophobic.

I didn't know that going in and was pleasantly surprised. Doesn't 'add' to the game though, IMHO. The game's been Ghost Recon'ed (albeit I LIKE GR:AW, I'm just sayin').

In June EA said DS3 would have to sell 5 million copies for the franchise to continue. Given that the first two sold 3.67 and 2.79 million copies this would likely be the last installment if EA keeps its word.

I'm not that bothered really about the franchise ending. Three installments is a good run for any series that doesn't feature a company mascot like Mario or Sonic, honestly.

I still haven't played Lost Planet. I'll probably start on that next.
