Alright Pahn, your list is complete (except the 1 I mentioned earlier).

Unless you own the GB version of Prince of Persia (and not the GBC version). I'm pretty sure both versions exist, but can't find any boxart for the US GB (black and white) version.

Let me know if I missed anything.

Thanks! My copy of Amerzone is the Dreamcatcher one, but that's all the info I have handy for it right now. (It's at home.) Oh, and I do indeed own the GBC version of PoP, so you were correct. I just group them together in my list because I only have 1 or 2 GB games.

As for the best PC adventure games, in no particular order.
  • Sam and Max Hit the Road - absolutely key. one of the best ever. probably my second favorite.
  • The Curse of Monkey Island - 3rd in the series and by far the best. my fav. adventure game of all time
  • Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis - has 3 different paths through the game. the puzzles are similar, but different in each. fantastic.
  • Day of the Tentacle - it's the sequel to Maniac Mansion, and includes the original in the game. awesome!
  • Full Throttle - didn't get too far before I came across an action bit I couldn't beat without a real mouse, but it was good
  • Dreamweb - it's old, and I had a hard time getting the sound to work, but I've played through it many times. It's good.
  • Lost in Time - the best $2 I ever spent. it's dated, but the puzzles are very good.

The ones I didn't list aren't bad at all, but they suffer from one problem or another. Runaway is nice, but it's pretty short. (They all are, to an extent, but it's shorter than most.) Sanitarium was somewhat generic, but worth grabbing if you can get it for cheap. Escape from Monkey Island was really good, but it just can't compare to Curse. The art style really suffered in the transition to 3D. I don't remember too much about The Amerzone, but it wasn't bad. Average, I'd say. Syberia was a little better, but the puzzles were somewhat weak.

And a final note: never pay full price for adventure games! I hate paying more than $20 for them, and I usually cruise the bargain bins for cheaper ones. If you want to play Sam and Max, Day of the Tentacle, and Indiana Jones (and you should) then I recommend picking up the LucasArts Archives, Volume 1. I imagine you can find it somewhere online, and it includes those 3 classics.

Did you guess that I'm into adventure games? It's just about the only genre I play on the PC.

EDIT: I forgot Monkey Island Madness, which is just Monkey Island 1 and 2, on a single disc. I got a copy of it free when I bought Curse of Monkey Island...so maybe you can find a similar package. If not, I think I have two copies at home, and I'll be more than happy to send one to you, free of charge. (If I can find it, that is.)

Some more suggestions for games to add to the db:
Game Gear
Ax Battler
Crystal Warriors
Defenders of Oasis
George Foreman's Knockout
The Lucky Dime Caper starring Donald Duck
Shinobi
Sonic the Hedgehog
Super Columns

PC-DOS
Monkey Island Madness

Nintendo
Excitebike

Yes, those all just so happen to be games that I own. I know 2 of them are already in there, but I'm too lazy to check which ones those might be.

EDIT: A note regarding my previous post: Don't bother even trying to play most of those games unless you have a Win9x PC somewhere, or even better, an old DOS machine. Some of them were given Win95 frontends, but those never really worked right.

All added. Game Gear games can be such a pain to find boxart for. Crystal Warriors had me looking all across the web.

Monkey Island Madness is box-less, correct?

All US N64 games are in the database, and have been for quite some time, so yeah, Excitebike 64 is in there.

Btw, Guardian's Crusage and Koudelka are both RPGs. Very classic RPGs at that.

Added, except Tetris. Was it commercially released for the Genesis? If so, what region (US, Japan, Europe)? Do you happen to have a box or cart that you can scan and send my way?

The only thing about this game that I can find is the 2 screenshots that www.vgmuseum.com has.

Help!

Actually all I have for the Tetris game is a cartridge that has the label torn off. The only marking on the cart is a piece of masking tape that says Tetris. I bought it at a garage sale a few years ago so I don't really know if it was an official release for Sega. I will look around for more info on it.

Little update on what I've found out about Tetris.

I can't find any Genesis information, but I have found that it was released for the SEGA Mega Tech system, which apparently was a neo-geo type arcade machine.

I'm still looking around to see if I can find any other information.

I thought there might be a possibility that the game is a JP release, but you'd then need a converter to play the game on a US Genesis.

I also thought that maybe you have one of the Mega Tech carts, but apparently those weren't compatible with the Genesis either.
