I LOVE make-up on chicks. If I had my way every chick walking the streets would look like geishas. I'm of the opinion that you can't put on too much make-up, you can only apply it poorly (I feel the same way about hair). But I never understood or bought into that whole unnatural, artificial commercial look that everyone is into, that I get knocked for not liking.

I agree. The sad thing is most chicks I've been with have looked really good IMO WITHOUT makeup on, and they think they look like shit without makeup on...

I didn't find the photoshopped look attractive, at least not in that particular case, but I think it's amazing how far photoshop has come in that you don't even need a makeup artist anymore if you have someone gifted in photoshop.

I don't think so.

Most of the photoshopping I see is poorly done and obvious. It's mainly blurring and airbrushing abuse. The chick in the dove commercial was primarily "enhanced" by the make-up and lighting, the photoshop only made her eyes bigger and gave her a longer neck.

Here's a good example (with original photos) of how photoshop is used for celebrities. It's minimal, most of the job is done by the make-up artist and the photographer.

Besides, the first part of the video is just morphing of 2 different photos, not photoshop in case you hadn't noticed. The second part also goes from the grimace photo to the normal looking one using morphing. Photoshop was only used to put the photo on the magazine cover, and that was poorly done.

No need to call anyone dumb. I was just pointing at the fact that photoshop isn't even close to replacing make-up. The first video in my post clearly demonstrate it.

It is far easier to touch up a picture that has already had makeup applied to the model than to start from scratch. That's why it's done the way it was shown in the commercial. Not because digitally adding makeup is impossible. There are countless tutorials of this on youtube.

Honestly, most photoshopped pics I've seen like exactly like what they are...photoshopped pics. But I don't either of you are wrong, really.

Theoretically, you can achieve a great, realistic looking picture with Photoshop sans real make-up, but there are so few digital artists that could pull it off and it would require so many man-hours of work and studio time that the cost would be prohibitive.

And, like Omi-san, I really didn't think the end result of the video was very nice.

I think some of you are missing the point the of the video. The intent of me showcasing the video was not to say it was the best photoshop job ever. Yes if he took more time, he could have fixed those crop lines. The intent was to show that makeup can be digitally added to a photo without making it look plastic as was charged by Omi-san. I disagreed with him in principle that a photoshop artist couldn't create lifelike makeup effects, and the video showcased just that.

There was no makeup added. All the "artist" did was change the hue of the entire photo, add hair, change the face shape, and color the eyes.
