Sleeping Dogs - A Melee Focused GTA?

Sleeping Dogs and Darksiders 2 are ending what's been a pretty dry past few months for games. There's only a handful of Sleeping Dogs reviews, but people who have gotten early copies seem high on the game. Sounds like an open world game where the focus is on melee combat instead of shooting, which is a nice change from your usual open world titles. Can't wait to play it, I should have a copy by Wednesday.

Reviews:

  • Game Master UK ~ 9.1 ~ "Imagine if Martin Scorsese and John Woo teamed up to make a GTA game...It's that good. "

  • OXM ~ 9.0 ~ "A game of rich variety and strong personality that never gets boring over its ten essential hours - many more if you stop to check out the full and entertaining world... It's shorter than GTA IV, for sure, but it's also much sweeter."

  • GameInformer ~ 7.5 ~ "Sleeping Dogs has enough entertainment value to justify Square Enix's decision to save it from cancellation, but it also displays a lack of polish that makes its troubled development evident."
