Greg Zeschuk, Ray Muzyka (co-founders) are leaving BioWare

Quote:

At an internal meeting this morning, BioWare co-founders Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka announced the duo are leaving the company, I’m told by multiple sources close to the situation.

It’s unclear why Zeschuk and Muzyka are leaving.

BioWare and Electronic Arts shipped Star Wars: The Old Republic last December to a mixed critical reception, and the game has struggled to hold onto users since. Dragon Age 3: Inquisition was formally announced yesterday, running on DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine, and is scheduled for a release in late 2013.

Electronic Arts has not respond to my request for comment.
Blog post from the two:

Ray Muzyka

Greg Zeschuk

The Old Republic strikes down more Bioware veterans.

The Old Republic will be the end of Bioware, son. Don't try to deny it.

TOR doesn't help but they were never the same once EA took over.

Fuck EA.

EA wanted to buy out Valve. Valve said they would rather be out of a job and homeless than work under EA.

Newell says it's likely Valve's employees would scatter and the company would "disintegrate" before it would be sold.

"It's way more likely we would head in that direction than say, 'Let's find some giant company that wants to cash us out and wait two or three years to have our employment agreements terminate,'" Newell says.

Who can forget EA destroying Westwood Studios?

Fuck EA.

BioWare is basically dead at this point... I'd imagine you'll probably start to see long time employees start filtering out behind Ray and Greg.

Sad day, I really like BioWare.

I think everything is riding on how good DA3 will be. If it turns out to be crap they might as well shut down.

... and give the ME franchise to CD Projekt.
