It has begun... and I figured it needed a thread... feel free to post any news you have gathered about what's going on at this year's expo... and anything else you feel like talking about regarding E3...

So far the game that has caught my eye would have to be Kill.Switch... which is being developed by Namco for PS2 and XBOX... it's looking pretty sweet... like a mix between Splinter Cell and WinBack... ok... so maybe WinBack was pretty weak... but it wasn't ALL bad...

I'm also rather excited about what I'm hearing coming out of EA... they got some fresh new ideas coming down the pipe, i'm not liking the pay-to-play... but since I'm such a die-hard Madden fan... i see myself giving in if it means online franchise modes and voice chat...

it's only the begining... we should be getting some info on the big boys of the show starting tomorrow... such as Halo 2, Half-Life II, MGS: The Twin Snakes, Deus Ex II, Everquest II and of course Doom III...

damn that's alot of sequels...

Might as well get things started with a couple of screens from Halo 2... you can find these screens and more like it in the new issue of OXM, or of course www.gamespot.com

A Covenant grunt looking as intimidating as ever...

the new reflection and bump-mapping techniques are rather impressive...

"There are other improvements to Madden 2004 that are definitely worth noting. For PS2 owners online gaming will be cheat-proofed and there will be persistent online tournaments. Voice communication, messaging and separate lobbies for veteran and rookie Madden players will enrich the online experience considerably. Still no online play for Xbox owners through Xbox Live, but, drum roll please Xbox owners are getting custom soundtracks!. GameCube owners can look forward to some kind of compatibility with the GameBoy Advance." - from ign.com

so i guess that's a no... BUT ATLEAST WE GET CUSTOM SOUNDTRACKS! lol

now i gotta' buy another PS2... debacle...

DOA goes Online
"Tecmo will be bringing the Dead or Alive series to Xbox Live with Dead or Alive Online, a bundle package featuring upgraded, Online versions of the original Dead or Alive and Dead or Alive 2." - from ign.com

it seems that DOA will looks exactly the same as the original but DOA2's graphics will be updated substantially so that it can compete with those of DOA3... the screens really aren't worth posting...

Breakdown... a 1st Person brawler... WTF!?!?!?
Namco is apparently developing this 1st person brawler for the XBox... and apparently they think that this is a good idea... i'm a little iffy about it myself... but you be the judge...

SSX3 taking a leap of faith
EA Big has decided to take the Tony Hawk Pro Skater approach with their next SSX title by scrapping the old idea of racing down tracks... now all stages will be wide open mountain areas... sounds interesting... we'll se how it pans out...

Middle-Earth Online

Vivendi announced today that Turbine will be developing Middle-Earth Online, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game based on "The Lord of the Rings." The new game is scheduled to be released in 2004. Vivendi's vice president of product development Jim Wilson lists Turbine's "proven expertise in building, launching, and supporting massively multiplayer games" as a significant advantage for the game.
Vivendi describes the gameplay:

The 3D role-playing game (RPG) will immerse players in the Middle-earth world where they will choose their identities from a cast of archetypal Tolkien characters, form kinships, build race-specific dwellings, explore the landscape, craft unique items and weapons, and perform myriad other activities to bring the world-renowned fantasy realm to life.
Vivendi has the rights to publish a series of titles based on the books, so Middle-Earth Online is merely one piece of Vivendi's Tolkien franchise. Middle-Earth Online takes place during the time of Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" series. We'll be sure to bring you more info on this and all the other Tolkien games from the floor of E3 next week. - from ign.com

Half-Life II looks unbelievable. Too bad I'm still stuck with 56k, which would make the game super laggy online (if you can even play it online with 56k). I've heard regular old CS is bad with 56k, and if that's true, Half-Life II would be horrible. Damn. :(

"You'll notice there's no Raven Shield or Seeds of Evil or Wind Waker dangling at the end of Rainbow Six 3'. This is one of those instances where there is something to be read in the omission of such information. The people at Ubi Soft want you, the game-buying public, to identify with the popular established brand of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six series, to be impressed by the numeral "3" --suggesting the most recent edition of the game-- but not to be put off by the Raven Shield subhead since that game already came out for the PC. This edition of Rainbow Six 3 will arrive first on the Xbox, be compatible with Xbox Live and is being developed by Ubi Soft Montreal, now famous everywhere for their work on Splinter Cell.
Rainbow Six 3 for Xbox will follow the stories, weaponry and gameplay systems established in the PC edition of the game, but the graphics engine is directly descended from Splinter Cell allowing for a few console specific twists here and there. So you'll still have the run-of-play command system for your CPU controlled teammates like you saw on the PC but it will all be taking place in a more polished, better lit 3D world. If we went out on a limb and called RSix3 first person Splinter Cell set in the Rainbow Six universe, we'd be stealing words right out of Ubi Soft hype machine, but that wouldn't mean it's not true. Hell, we've always thought that military operatives from Tom Clancy's world like Sam Fisher and Ding Chavez knew each other already and had each other over for barbecues. So combining a soon-to-be-beloved game engine with a familiar first person shooter franchise for a semi-original Xbox Live game should work out well for Xbox owners starving for new Live games and shooters in general.

Rainbow Six 3 will feature the same soft cloth technology you'll remember from Splinter Cell and an even sharper lighting system if you can believe it. Continuing with that theme, the new game's thermal vision isn't the black and white display seen in the PC game, but rather the "rainbow" thermal vision console gamers will be familiar with from SC. Chains and other soft fabrics will sway and be disrupted by contact with your character and light will stream into dark rooms from spotlights or small windows. After Ghost Recon became a runaway hit for Xbox Livers who couldn't get enough of that tactical first person shooting, it looks like bringing it back to the franchise that started it all, and now with stunning visuals to make it really standout, could make RSix3 a hot one this holiday season.

For a quick peek at what Ubi Soft has in mind for Rainbow Six 3, be sure to download the first trailer and keep it locked on IGN.com for even more on the game at E3." - from IGN

"The dream has become a reality. Last year Capcom fulfilled every hardcore gamer's deepest desire with the release of Steel Battalion, a mech game requiring the use of a $200 40-button three-pedal controller. The only thing that could possibly have given the salivating geek masses more pleasure? Online play. Enter Microsoft's philosophy: If you build an online network, they will come. And indeed, Capcom is building a virtual field of dreams with the announcement of Steel Battalion: Line of Contact, an Xbox Live compatible update to the original SB.
Allowing for five on five online combat, Line of Contact broadens the Steel Battalion universe, adding over ten new playable mechs to the mix. Using either a first or third person perspective, gamers will enjoy the full realization of the SB dream.

Along with 10 immediately available new mechs, there will be Vertical Tanks (VTs) hidden throughout the maps, which players can find and unlock for an even larger mech motor pool. Players can also create and customize their own emblems to slap on their VTs, making for the first Live game to allow for recognizable clan insignias.

Don't expect your typical deathmatch online scenarios, as Capcom is promising gamers will need to communicate with their partners in order to accomplish specific mission objectives. What's even more intriguing is that "the Steel Battalion universe will evolve constantly as factions will gain and lose territory and as new combat situations are introduced." That suggests that SB: LOC will be more than just an arcade online experience and may feature some sort of persistent world.

Many questions still remain regarding Steel Battalion: Line of Contact. Will Line of Contact be packaged in with the big controller or will those who do not own the original Steel Battalion need to buy the controller (with the original game packed in) and the new online version? Will your old SB save work with LOC? What other Live enhancements can gamers expect? And how deeply will the SB: LOC Live interface support online clans? We'll attempt to find answers to these questions and give you hands-on Xbox Live impressions at this weeks E3 in Los Angeles.

Until then, drool on these screens and start hoarding your sick days for this winter when Steel Battalion: Line of Contact hits Xbox Live and takes over your entire life." - from IGN.com

"Music Mixer is the first piece revealed in Microsoft's overall plan to make Xbox much more than merely a tool for gamers. Shipping this fall, the launch of Xbox' Digital Entertainment Lifestyle initiative means big things for Xbox and is perhaps a preview of Microsoft's plans to make Xbox 2 the only piece of hardware you'll need in your living room besides a TV.
Priced at $39.95, Music Mixer includes software for both your Xbox and PC as well as a hand-held microphone. The software includes over 10 hours of visual media, two handfuls of classic karaoke songs, a near-complete music CD database, and everything you need to turn your Xbox into a machine worthy of the term "next-generation".

Promised to be as simple to use as a video game with absolutely no need to consult a manual, Music Mixer packs quite a lot of punch for a mere 40 bucks. The title is actually a bit of a misnomer, as Music Mixer does more than merely allow for musical manipulations on your Xbox. Mixers will be able to rip digital pictures and video from their PC through their home network and into their Xbox. Music Mixer allows for karaoke, virtual photo books, and more complex video presentations for the ambitious.

Xbox slideshow
Anyone who has a digital camera knows what a pain it is having everyone crown around the computer to check out your latest pics. With Music Mixer those days are no more. Music Mixer allows gamers to upload digital pics and videos from the PC to their Xbox hard drive so tat they can create their own virtual slideshow.

2D visual shows can include music(and any MP3 can be ripped from PC to Xbox now) and any number of digital images. Digital media can be easily customized with Music Mixer and a bevy of effects, including wipes and fades, can be implemented to make for the coolest slideshow presentation ever imagined. No more napping through your hour-long presentation of your trip to see the world's Biggest Ball of Twine.

Global rave
This implementation doesn't have to be as narrow as family slideshows. Pics can be used to enhance the audio experience, or mixers can forego digital pictures all-together and create their own sensory output, manipulating the visuals in real-time with both thumbsticks.

Video can also be implemented (there's about an hour and a half of canned video included with Music Mixer) to enhance the experience. But, perhaps cooler, is that the 3D visualization creates virtual raves dancing to the music ripped to your Xbox hard drive. Set the number of dancers, clothing, and ratio of males to females.

Ah, but it doesn't end there. With real-time VJ and DJ functionality, users can use turntable effects and adjust equalizer settings for their own little raves. Even better is that Music Mixer is fully compatible with Xbox Live, meaning you'll be able to listen to music with your buddies (or strangers) across the Internet. Though it's unclear how many people will be able to tap into one DJ session, there's a good possibility Xbox Live and Music Mixer will allow for the first global rave.

Find a match
Those annoyed by having to slowly enter the band and song names for their ripped albums need be annoyed no longer. Music Mixer comes packaged with Music Match-like functionality. With a database of nearly ever CD ever produced, Microsoft is expecting about a 95% match-rate for all ripped music. Not only will this instantly name all songs you rip from your PC to your Xbox, but Music Mixer will retroactively name all songs already on your Xbox hard drive.

Those with Xbox Live will receive real-time updates to the database, but those without won't have matching functionality for albums released after Mixer's launch. Microsoft is planning to release database updates, but it hasn't been determined how often or how the updates will be distributed.

Your own karaoke lounge
Ah yes, we saved the best for last. Packaged with an unspecified number of karaoke music tracks, using the Xbox Microphone, mixers can karaoke in their own home. Extra karaoke packages with more songs will be available after launch, but MS isn't sure if they will be downloadable via Xbox Live for a fee or if they will be available also in retail stores on disc.

Though there is packaged karaoke songs, mixers can use any song on their Xbox hard drive, as Music Mixer will rip the lead vocals from any track in real-time. And for those wanting to be true American idols, your karoke performances can be recorded and saved onto your hard drive. And cooler still, you can use these recorded tracks in any Xbox game that supports custom soundtracks. Yes, finally you can listen to your own screeching voice singing "It's Raining Men" while racing in your fave driving game.

The Voice Communicator can also be used as a mic, though it has weaker quality, to allow for karaoke duos. Now you can grandma can "Get Down On It" together. And if grandma plays the guitar, you're in luck. The Music Mixer mic plugs into a dongle, which connects to the back of your controller just like the Xbox Live Voice Communicator. However, you can plug any instrument into the dongle to play along.

Demo anyone?
To date, we've only heard about Music Mixer, we've yet to see it in action. That will change on Wednesday as Microsoft will be demoing the software at their booth. Look for impressions and more details in just a couple of days." - from IGN.com

"Welcome to the promised land. Last year as we approached the launch of Xbox Live, numerous MS officials had mentioned that the initial features of Live were just the tip of the iceberg. This fall several implementations that were discussed a year prior will finally become active. The first of these is Microsoft's XSN Sports, an online sports network dedicating to bring Xbox Live's online community closer together. Set to launch with NFL Fever 2004, XSN sports will be featured in every first-party simulation and extreme sports game to follow.
XSN Sports allows the first ever interaction between your PC and Xbox and will connect gamers to real competitions, leagues, and tournaments. Here's a quick list of what XSN promises:

Real leagues that you can create or join (Get ready for the IGN Inside Drive League!)
Regular, scheduled online tournaments
Real-time rankings that can be checked and sorted on your PC or cell phone
Look for and chat with your Xbox Live buddies on your PC or cell phone
Get e-mail or cell phone paged updates on events and even tournament reminders
XSN Sports titles for 2003 include: NFL Fever 2004, Links 2004, Top Spin, NHL Rivals 2004, NBA Inside Drive 2004, and Amped 2
XSN Sports is only for first-party sports games, however MS hopes third-party companies like Sega will be inspired and create their own sports networks next year.
Check out individual MS Sports game stories to see specific XSN Sports implementations." - from IGN.com

I just finished watching the very 1st trailer for Doom3 for XBOX... lemme' just say a few things...

1. It looks identical to the PC screenshots that I've seen.
2. It surpassed even my expectations of what the XBOX can do.
3. When Trooper sees this footage he's going to be feeling mighty dumb...

I never said they weren't real-time you fucking hypocrite. I said they were cut scenes, much like the replays in GT3, they look better than actually gameplay since the computer can "cheat" as it knows what paths are to be taken in advance. But you're a computer wizard, you alway knew this.

It's not brain surgery, rather simple English.

That's because I doubt you know what you're looking at and screenshots and movies tend to be compressed, making them look better.

Keep living in that world of ingorance you enjoy so much. If you were to follow up on the Doom3 scene, you would know even at a low resolution and medium settings on a 3HGz P4 and Radeon 9700PRO card, Doom 3 will bring it to it's knee. Please try and tell us how the Xbox with it's 700MHz P3, 64MB of shared RAM and GF3.5 can manage the same quality.:tard:

That and id (and common sense) already stated the Xbox version won't be nearly as good visually.

I already saw the trailer and thanks for making me laugh. Impressive? Yes. As good as the PC version? You're fucking crazy. Even RTCW 18 months after being released on the PC looks and runs better on the PC.

it's taken but a day or so for you to be made to look silly... 1st we got the Halo 2 trailer and then the Doom 3 trailer... both proving that the XBox can handle extremely impressive lighting in real-time in-game scenarios... not just cuts-scenes... lighting effects that easily are up there with Doom 3 on the PC... so just give it up... admit it... you were wrong... and you are now the XBox's bitch...

lol, the Xbox MIGHT(highly doubt it...) have a chance to compete with the PC version graphically, but how many FPS are you going to get? The game will have MASSIVE SLOWDOWN unless they dumb down the graphics and AI.

halo pc

PC Halo - Revealed!
Wowowow. The promised Gamespy Halo PC article went online early this morning... and I'm still reeling. (There are actually two articles - the main one, and a separate one on the new multiplayer features available in the PC version.) Release date is tentatively August or September... and it's gonna be a winner. The 10 campaign levels have been translated faithfully from the original; with the exception of the higher resolution (it was demoed at 1024x768 for Gamespy, but the implication was that even higher resolutions should be supported) and the interface tweaks (there are more keys on a keyboard than buttons on an Xbox controller, after all), the solo campaign will be identical to the original. The differences will lie in multiplayer. There are 6 brand-new multiplayer maps, as well as the ability to use the covenant fuel cannon, fly the banshee, and drive a modified warthog (with a rocket launcher in the back). There are also new multiplayer modes, and the ability to tweak existing modes:

...you can give the Red Team a set of Warthogs that respawn immediately, while giving the Blue Team one Scorpion tank that only reappears after a minute.

The only feature of the Xbox version that's in danger of NOT making it over to the PC side is Coop play. Gearbox is hopeful they can find a way to implement it easily before Halo PC goes gold... but they can't promise anything. Oh, and the keyboard/controller debates can finally be decided, since they've included gamepad support; grudge matches are SURE to be played. Anyway, there are pages and pages of juicy content in the two stories, and 16 screenshots/concept art images... so go read!

i'm getting this even though i have it on xbox for online play... halo online is going to the hurtin on all the other pc fps games.

damn pics won't show up so heres a link. http://www.3dgamers.com/screenshots/games/halo/

I agree, rtcw comes to mind. The pc version is almost 2 years old, while the graphics were great for it's time, now they are starting to look dated. We've seen what the xbox can do as far as graphics, and it could have easily handled a perfect port of rtcw, but yet, the xbox version of rtcw, doesn't look as good as the pc version.

ea is trying to kill themselves.

EA Sports may start charging for online play.

In a report on CNN, John Riccitello, president and COO of Electronic Arts, suggested that future iterations of games under the EA Sports label, such as Madden NFL or NBA Live, may have some sort of online subscription model, pointing out that the potential to make new revenue is there. However, he also added that online as it currently stands with the Xbox, PlayStation 2, and GameCube only presents a small amount of potential for additional revenue.

"I think in this generation there's only very modest revenue potential for online play," Riccitello said during a conference call to discuss the company's earnings. "What has yet to be proven, but I think it represents a significant revenue opportunity if we can play it out properly, is added revenue generation capability in the back end. So instead of just selling Madden at $49, we may be able to generate subscription [revenue] on the back of that. At this point, that's frankly more speculative than it is substantive, but that's what we're going to be working on over the balance of the cycle."

hmmm lets see... madden $50 plus a monthly fee or sega nfl (as good if not better than the latest madden games) $50 with no extra fees... which would you buy?

May 13th, 2003, 05:33 PM
I am more pissed at EA for completely ignoring Xbox Live. This agreement that EA signed with Sony is yet another reason why I hate EA. I guess it really shouldn't matter though since I don't buy anything from EA...

Unreal Tournament 2004 Announced

News

The next edition of UT will have an assault mode, a
large-scale outdoor mode with vehicles, and more.

Atari has announced that a new edition of Unreal Tournament will be out later this year that will be compatible with Unreal Tournament 2003 and will include a bunch of new gameplay modes, new maps, voice chat, and other gameplay enhancements. UT 2004 isn't exactly a sequel or a stand-alone expansion. In addition to the significant features and the multiplayer content in UT 2004, it will also include the original Unreal Tournament 2003 content and the freely downloadable bonus packs released by Digital Extremes and Epic Games earlier this year.

Unreal Tournament 2004 will evolve UT's competitive gameplay with a new onslaught mode. This large-scale team mode will take place on huge outdoor maps, and you can get around them in new land and air vehicles, notably a lethal bomber that you can fly. There are also some new weapons designed specifically for onslaught, including spider mines, which can be useful to defend the control points that teams will fight over. There are nine new maps planned to work with the onslaught mode.

The new game will also bring back assault, a popular UT game mode that didn't make it into UT 2003. But the new assault is said to be a single-player-oriented mode that will take place on the homeworlds of various UT 2004 tournament contestants. The huge battles will feature a variety of land, space, and air vehicles. Some popular characters from past Unreal games will make an appearance in the game: the Skaarj, the Necris, and the infamous Xan Kriegor.

"Unreal Tournament 2004 is the next evolution of the greatest competitive computer game ever created," said Jean-Philippe Agati, senior vice president and general manager of Atari's Los Angeles studio. "The addition of new modes, mods, and maps, as well as the controllable land-, air-, and space-based vehicles, means Unreal fans are getting an entirely new experience featuring devastating vehicular combat and wide-scale warfare."

There are a handful of notable new features in store for the new edition. Perhaps the most significant addition is built-in voice chat that actually takes advantage of 3D audio hardware, so players can hear the shouts of those around them correctly positioned in 3D space. Also new is UnrealTV, a way for games to be broadcast to hundreds of viewers at a time with minimal performance impact on the players. Players should also appreciate the enhanced voting system and the redesigned user interface. UT 2004 will include many smaller tweaks, including improved bots for team games and some cool details like letting players carry dual assault rifles.

Unreal Tournament 2004 is being codeveloped by Epic Games and Digital Extremes. The game is due out this fall.

America's Army Expands

News

The US Army's tactical multiplayer action game will be
updated with new combat classes, new missions, and a number of technical enhancements.

The US Army has announced that an enhanced version of America's Army: Operations is making its debut at E3. An updated version of the game will add new combat roles for players, including combat medic and special forces soldier. When the new special forces missions are released this fall, players will be able to go through a series of qualification steps toward earning the right to wear the green beret. Along the way, players will qualify for medical sergeant, weapons sergeant, engineer sergeant, communications sergeant, and intelligence sergeant. As players qualify for these new roles, new attributes and abilities will open up for multiplayer matches. A new Army unit, the Stryker combat brigade, will also make its way into the game. The Stryker combat system will incorporate advanced information systems, light armor, and a grenade launcher or a .50-caliber remote weapon system.

Other upcoming enhancements for the game are also being demonstrated at E3. These include the integration of OC3's Impersonator technology, new character models, new game modes that incorporate AI opponents and allies, and a new interface to provide new gameplay options that will highlight leadership roles and mission planning. America's Army: Operations will also soon be released for other operating systems. A Mac version will be available in June and a Linux version will debut in July.

"The public's positive reaction to the America's Army game has been far stronger than our most optimistic projections," said Col. Casey Wardynski, project originator and project director. "The game has exhibited very high levels of growth in terms of new players, repeat players, and numbers of games played. By embedding information about soldiering within the popular culture, the game has proven to be a valuable channel to place information about soldiering within the decision space of high- potential young Americans."

America's Army: Operations is a freely downloadable game developed by the US Army. The Army reports that more than 1 million players have completed the basic training required before it's possible to play multiplayer matches online. Players have logged in more than 13 million hours of gameplay since the game's launch last summer.

Dead Man's Hand Impressions

Preview

For as many movies have been set in the Wild West, cowboys have been a rather rare sight in games. Yet Human Head's upcoming Xbox first-person shooter takes the Old West theme to heart. The game starts out as a old gunman, El Tejon, gets out of a prison where he was left to rot after being betrayed by his gang. Although we heard that El Tejon had a falling out with the other nine members of the gang because of a difference of beliefs--he liked the notoriety but wasn't into all the cold-blooded killing--the gunman is now on a mission of revenge to take down the nine, one by one.

Dead Man's Hand is based on the latest version of the Unreal engine and really makes good use of the Karma physics engine. The environments are filled with destructible objects. A good shot with a shotgun can knock over a lean-to or set off a wagon perched on a slope. More importantly, these objects can be a good way to take out opponents. In an interesting twist, there's a point system that rewards you for doing things with style and also for shooting important-looking objects--such as a bleached white skull hanging on a wall--as in a penny-arcade shooting gallery. These point bonuses also give you "juice," filling a meter for special abilities. The standard Colt .45 normally just has a somewhat slow single-shot attack, but using juice can let you break out a Clint Eastwood-style fanning technique, using the opposite hand to **** the hammer for a quick burst of fire.

One level we saw was set in a ghost town, where you have to seek out Paulo Sanchez, who is hiding out in the saloon. But in the meantime, there's his gang to deal with. Around every corner, there were plenty of enemies to gun down, so it wasn't too hard to build up the juice. El Tejon has a range of typical Western weapons to choose from, including a bowie knife, three pistols, three rifles, and three shotguns. There are also explosive to toss, like dynamite and whiskey bombs, and the physics engine does a good job making the blasts apparent.

As El Tejon progresses on his quest for revenge, the game will take him from the dusty desert towns of the Southwest to the mines and forests of the Northwest. Human Head wanted to make sure there was a good variety of locations, and it is also working on a third area in the Midwest, where some of the action will take place aboard a riverboat. You'll have an opportunity to ride horses as well, and there'll be an action-packed sequence on a speeding train. All nine of El Tejon's former colleagues will be formidable bosses, with special attacks and their own signature weapons.

Dead Man's Hand will have a full complement of multiplayer options, with Xbox Live support and split-screen play. In addition to deathmatch and team deathmatch modes, the posse mode will have a team face waves of AI enemies in a way that's reminiscent of Space Invaders and the bounty mode will make one player "it" and set the rest on his trail. The game is currently pre-alpha and is scheduled for release at the end of the year.

SNK Rises From Its Own Ashes

News

The company behind the NeoGeo is at E3 for the first
time in years, and we caught up with the USA division's president to get the scoop on its plans.

Quite some time ago, SNK, the company behind the NeoGeo system and classic games like Ikari Warriors and Samurai Shodown, closed its doors. Or so everyone thought. According to NeoGeo USA Consumer Corp. president Ben Herman, who we caught up with at E3, the head of SNK (fans know him as E. Kawasaki) went on to enjoy success in the pachinko business with his new company, Playmore, and has now revived SNK. So SNK has officially relaunched in the United States, and Herman tells us it will expand into Europe next year. At E3, the company is showing off some of Playmore's latest games, such as The King of Fighters 2001 and Metal Slug 4, as well as the forthcoming SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos.

Herman told us about some of the company's plans for the future, such as the release of a two-game compilation of King of Fighters 2000 and 2001 for the PlayStation 2 before the end of the year. He also confirmed that a Metal Slug game will be headed to the Game Boy Advance SP.

NeoGeo USA is still being established, and Herman explained that the division's permanent headquarters--which will likely be somewhere in New Jersey--is still being decided upon. The company's presence on the show floor is primarily just to reinforce to its fans that SNK is back in business, and indeed, a large number of people can be seen playing SNK's latest offerings, watching the trailer for SVC Chaos that occasionally plays, and mooching posters of King of Fighters 2001 and Metal Slug 4.

A glance at the SVC Chaos trailer confirms that the game has much more in common with the King of Fighters series than with the Capcom-developed Capcom vs. SNK series. The game looks like it's running on NeoGeo hardware, but clearly SNK's plans to become a competitive game company will require it to put its games on other platforms in a timely manner.

At any rate, Herman says that SNK has big plans for the future, so we'll look forward to bringing you more as it develops.

sweet!

Heres a site where they have ALL of the new trailers. This might help some peepz with the problem of Gamespot of IGN insider.

I'm speechless at this point. Microsoft has done an incredible job. There is just one question I have. Isn't this just a lil risky? I mean, U got XBL sports network comin, the Music Mixer, That new steel battalion, Halo 2, Doom 3, Half-Life, etc etc, If all that shyt doesn't work the way they want, there gonna lose a ton of money, but then again, they r filthy rich. I'm juss sayin. That Sports network is gonna be risky. Does anybody kno if any other online sports games have been announced 4 it other than fever 2004?

Halo 2 is on the top of my list, no matter what. Bungie has proved they can make kick ass games, so i'm gonna stick with them on this one. Here r my games after halo:

Doom 3
Half Life 2
Star Wars: KOTOR
Brute Force
NFL 2k4
Ninja Gaiden
Rainbow Six 3
Steel Battalion

I hope i have enough money.

1. pychic powers or the ability to see into the future

anyway, I've been to Bungie's site, I've read their forums and I know the different aspects to Halo 2's MP but at the core it's still like Halo's. There is a whole big thread about Halo 2's MP in another forum. Someone even posted a chat log where of the developer's mentioned exactly what I said, hence I know.

I hated UC, the entire game had that unfinished feel. AA is what really killed it though. 95% of players online used the lightning gun, and when accompanied with AA, makes for a lethal, non-skill, and non-fun game. I even tried hosting games and turned AA off, but people would leave a minute after they joined after they realized that there was no AA, lol.
